Elder Scrolls Online takes place
in Tameriel an open world which includes areas from oblivion and skyrim, it is as vast as it is varied taking you through woodland, swamps, caves and mountains is only the start of this huge mmo developed by zenimax.
If you've played elder scrolls before you won't be surprised that you start the game as a prisoner that is then freed and led to a prophet, main story quests come along every 5 or so xp levels after that but in between there are hundreds of side quests for you to participate in and depending on which of the three alliances you choose when making a character will depend on the quests that you will receive, it is said that you can sink in around 200 hours into each alliance. Some of the side quests feel very bulk out, only there to give the game some volume however there are many with really compelling stories. While this game has a massive cult following, do not let this put you off if you are new to this franchise as it is very easy to slip into it and get sucked in to what is a very addictive game that could put you on the verge of either being sacked from work or a marital breakdown with the sheer amount of hours you can plough into this game without coming up for air. While this is classed as an MMO rest assured if its not your genre, you can play 99% of it on your Larry lonesome with the only exception being group dungeons and pvp, and while you will indefinitely see other players heavily populating the major cities and dotted around the rest of the world, if you don't want to interact you don't have to, but on the other hand if your looking to meet up with others to tackle a side quest or dungeon it couldn't be easier.
As you would expect with a landscape so huge visuals take a slight knock but it is still a stunning world to go and explore.
Group dungeons are where all the people grinding for loot are to be found with harder dungeons being unlocked as you progress through the ranks and PvP is not for the faint hearted, it plays out like a humongous game of domination in which all 3 factions come together and try to capture the many various keeps (castles) dotted throughout cyrodile.
